Wanlong

Wanlong opened Phase 1 already in 2004 and was so far China's largest ski resort, a position that will be challenged in the winter 2012 by Changbaishan.
More or less every years new trails, lifts and hotel upgrades had been added and so far around 20 slopes with a total of about 40 km and 6 chairlifts covering a vertical drop of roughly 400 meters offer great skiing. The lifts though are quite slow and lack except for one bubbles or seat heating. The sloeps are fairly wide, not too steep and offer great fun for skiers of all levels. Due to the low frequency of the chairlifts, the slopes are mostly empty and advanced beginners can feel safe and advanced skiers can speed up if they like.
Ski season starts mostly early / mid November and (not all slopes open though) and lasts until first week of April, depending on the weather. In early / mid winter temperatures can be chilly, but March offers mostly very pleasant temperatures.

Wanlong has a hotel with around 200 beds on 3* level. Breakfast buffet is quite rich for 3* level and offers Chinese as well as Western dishes. The hotel also offers a Chinese and a Hotpot Restaurant and have a limited selection of Western food.

The rental equipment consits mostly of Salomon Carving skis and they also have a decent choice of Snowboards.

Wanlong can be reached by car from Beijign within 3-4 hours depending on the traffic and by coach it takes around 4-4.5 hours. There is also the possibility to get there by train via Zhangjiakou and then by cab to the ski resort, but this requires some China travel experience.

Costs: RMB 2500 per person in twin room, single supplement RMB 1150, RMB 2300 per person in Silver Dragon Suite (small suite with 2 bedrooms and one bathroom. "Korean" style bedding with 2 mats on the floor in each room), discount for kids below 140 cm RMB 340, discount for people with own equipment RMB 250, 14 participants minimum.

Not Included: lunch, dinner, drinks, insurance is responsibility of each participant

Ski Teaching: individual ski coaching with Swiss ski instructor on request
