Genting / Secret Garden

Genting is the latest among the ski resorts in the Zhangjiakou / Chongli area and Phase 1 was opened in the winter 2011/2012 with 12 slopes and 2 Dopplemayer chairlifts with bubble and seat heating. Vertical drop is currentlz at around 250 meters at a total of around 15 kilometers of slopes. Investors are the Malaysian Genting and VXL group and the whole investment will total at around 1 Billion USD including golf courses, hiking and mountainbike trails etc. A major focus is on a sustainable and ecological development. In the end phase, a total of 22 ski lifts will serve 87 slopes with a total length of 70 km.
By the end of 2012, a top notch 5* Hotel is scheduled to open with 265 guest rooms, restaurants, bars and a wellness area.

The vertical drop will be lower than in Wanlong and the slopes are generally a bit more flat and that's why Genting is also great for total beginners. A modern ski lodge with rental equipment and restaurant is already in place.
The season usually starts mid / end November and lasts until late March / early April. In early / mid Winter temperatures can be quite fresh but the south-east exposition offers a lot of sun and wind protection.

The rental equipment consists of Carving Skis and Snowbaords.

Wanlong can be reached by car from Beijign within 3-4 hours depending on the traffic and by coach it takes around 4-4.5 hours. There is also the possibility to get there by train via Zhangjiakou and then by cab to the ski resort, but this requires some China travel experience.
