"Hiddenchina organised in August 2015 in Lijiang the annual AIEST Conference as well as the official Pre-Tour from Kunming to Dali, Shaxi and Lijiang. AIEST is the oldest organisation of Academic Tourism Experts and consists of over 300 members from more than 50 countries. The Pre-Tour as well as the Conference were perfectly organised and led by Hiddenchina.net and Christoph Mueller, founder of Hiddenchina.net could give us during the whole event a lot of very valuable information about tourism in China. All participants could profit from an in-depth view into the tourism structures of China and I can warmly recommend the services of Hiddnechina."
Prof. Dr. Christian Laesser, General Secretary AIEST, Professor for Tourism and Service Managment at the University of St. Gallen
"Hidden China has impressive ideas and provides unique services. They try to avoid the masses and definitely get you closer to the real China than what a main stream travel company could ever do. Their service is dedicated and totally personalized and having been in tourism myself for more than 35 years, I recommend this company to whoever is looking for high end and out of the ordinary travel arrangements in China."
Hans Lerch, former President and CEO of the Kuoni Travel Group
"Thanks to the Easter Holidays I was able to combine a private tour to Beijing, Pingyao and Xian with my official China government visit. For those who would like to see China off the beaten tracks, I can strongly recommend Swiss travel agency Hiddenchina.net. Two Swiss nationals who moved years ago to China to live the Chinese culture tailor your itinerary to your needs and your personal wishes. This is a private secret tip from me."
Moritz Leuenberger, former Federal Council and Minister of Switzerland (tour to Pingyao and Xian)
"I am back at work now (in our Beijing office today), Gab and the kids are travelling home. The trip was really great, including the improvised stay at the Red Capital Ranch at the last minute. We had wonderful hikes at the Great Wall near the hotel on Monday night and Tuesday morning that capped off a great vacation. Shanghai was great as well and Cassandra has been super. She knows Shanghai really well and has been fantastic at figuring out alternative activities when the heat has gotten too intense.
Stephen was: "awesome!" "Super smart and nice" "answered all of our questions" ...the kids. We all learned a lot from his tour and continue to find connections to it in the other sites we've visited. Very glad you suggested it -- really does provide a great foundation for seeing china.
Thanks for all your help and the help of your team in making this happen."

"We are on our way home after a lovely trip. We wanted to tell you that all of the arrangements were excellent. With the exception of a slight mix up with our pick up today (which your colleague resolved) each driver and guide was prompt and professional. We loved our three experts and Lijia was remarkable. We enjoyed a wonderful dinner with two of her friends, an artist and photographer who were both interesting. We ended the dinner with 'dancing' in the local park which was really funny. It's run by the local government and is more like a post- dinner exercise session. We joined in and got scolded by the very bossy leader for not paying our 1 yuan fee. It was actually quite funny and an experience. David is busy reading her book on the plane.
In addition to Lijia I want to tell you that Lulu in Guilen was delightful, efficient and interesting, particularly since she is of a minority ethnicity. We had a great time with Nicholas, who even took us ( at our insistence) to an artist's studio in Black Bridge where we bought a painting and saw another interesting part of the City. I also want to mention Sharon, a local guide in Beijing who accompanied us from the airport. We spent only an hour in the car, but I would seek her out in the future as she was so interesting and intelligent. Her English is extraordinary for a local guide and we learned a lot in a short visit in the van.
The Dragon River raft trip was a highlight even in the pouring rain! Much better than the Li and the show in the evening was fantastic although I had my doubts at first. Our seats were the best in the house, thank you.
So, you will see that we are sad to leave China and look forward to a return trip soon. We promise to call on you again as we were completely happy with everything you arranged. Next time we will be more adventurous and head West, perhaps even to Tibet!"

"Many thanks for the great orgaqnisation of all the transfers, sightseeing and meals for the inaugural flight of SWISS Airlines Beijing - Zurich. Unfortunately I could only join the last evening, but alone this was very impressive and persuasive. "
Urs Eberhard, Executive Vice President Markets & Meetings Switzerland Tourism. (Ground operations for the VIP guests of the inaugural flight Zurich - Beijing by SWISS Airlines on February 12th, 2012)
“We wanted to have a China tour with our family (baby + grandparents), but because one needs to make certain additional preparations when traveling with a young child, we wanted to create our own trip, so we asked Hiddenchina.net to customize a trip for us. The proposal was up to our needs and wishes and the result was just as good. The driver always cared and helped us manage our luggage, he drove carefully and slow enough so we could enjoy the landscape. The guide spoke English fluently and had a very good knowledge of the history and culture of his country. When we told the guide to get us out of the touristic traps, he knew exactly what we wanted and customized other trips for us. I have been living in China for more than two years now and I have realized how difficult it can be to organize a trip or an event the way we do it in Europe. The question is not if it’s possible or not (because it is), it is to be able to find the right people to work with.
And Hiddenchina.net knows how to do that...”
Petri De Pita, photographer (Tour to Xian, Chengdu and Guangxi)
It was an exciting and impressive tour with many, often unexpected, cultural, historic and geographical highlights. The most memorable places were for us: Lake Karakul, Dunhuang Mogoa Grottoes and the Sand Dunes, Zhangye Danxia Landform and Matisi Monastery, of course Xi'an and finally Shanghai as a modern and vibrant city. We were very happy with your guides and drivers. All the guides were very informative und seemed to be free in their opinion and views and we could had excellent talks and learned a lot about the real life in those areas. All guide changes worked perfectly even when it was in the middle of the night. Accommodation all were very good and all in all it was for us a sustainable and amazing travel experience and it was your recommendations and organisation that made it all such a memorable and outstanding experience and we are very greatful for that!

“We wanted to thank you for allowing us to experience one of the best adventures of our life. We had the best time on the Great Wall. It was great to do something away from the crowds and see a real slice of history. John was very knowledgeable about the history of the Great Wall and looked after us so well, which was fantastic.
The farmer was absolutely lovely. Hopefully, John was able to pass on the 100 Yuan tip to him for welcoming us into his home and helping my mother back down the hill over all the ice. We have attached some photos for you. The sunrise we saw was absolutely breath taking! It was definitely the highlight of our whole trip to China. We hope you enjoy these photos as much as we enjoyed the experience.“
Alicia Munday (Great Wall camping tour in freezing March)
“It was a little while ago that Rob and I did the 2 day trek on the Great Wall of China with our guide, Chou San (Jack). It was fabulous and the highlight of our whole China trip.”
Nick Barker-Pendree, Actor and Model (Great Wall camping tour)
“I'm back from my trip and just wanted to let you know that everything went very well. Jimpa and the driver Nemja were great - very professional, well-organised and very easy to be with. So I'm very happy to recommend Hiddenchina.net to anyone else.”
Carole Sunderland (trip to Tibetan Qinghai)
“Everything worked out perfectly! I had an amazing time in the South. The most memorable experience I had in the rice terraces of Longjititian, not only because of the good weather. When I was on a hike there on my own, I got invited by a farmer family. Although I can't speak their language, we managed to keep a conversation with pictures and a lot of laughing. Tony the guide patiently answered all my questions and introduced me to a lot of local people, so I felt like like at home. In Yangshuo I couldn’t resist and went mountain climbing when it was more dry.
Thank you again for the great tour!”
