Dao was born in 1983 in North Korea. When he was six years old he came to China and grew up in the Yanji province in the South of China . Full of energy and being passionate for sports and physical activity, he got involved into martial arts which has been a consequent part of his life since the age of 9. His ambition to become active in the Arts took him like many young Chinese from the provinces to the Capital of China, to Beijing. Following his talents and passion, he signed up for the Dance Academy of Beijing to follow his dreams. Due to his martial arts background, his love for dance and a lot of hard work, he got drafted as a possible protagonist of the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games of Beijing 2008. His consequent hard work, talent and ability to dedicate a full year of his life into the extremely selective training program, rewarded him with one of the most prestigious roles, being one of the only 16 protagonists who painted the gigantic Chinese Character scroll in the center of the Bird’s Nest during the life performance of the opening ceremony, which was one of the core pieces of the whole concept created by world famous Director Zhang Yimou (Red Sorghum, Raise the Red Lantern, The Story of Qiu Ju, House of Flying Daggers, The Flowers of War etc.).
Currently Dao is finalizing his study as a movie director, while still practicing his other passions like Taj-Chi and Taekwondo, and visiting the gym.
